Water SASU - Weekend on the Water is back for 2024!

Friday 31 May - Sunday 2 June 2024

The County Water Activities Unit are again running Weekend on the Water.


What: Sailing, Powerboating, Canoe/Kayak and SUP courses with assessments for NGB qualifications if appropriate / Scout permits.


Who: Scouts aged 13+, Explorers, Young Leaders, Network, all adults in Lincolnshire scouting. For those under 18, a leader will need to attend with the Young people. Event Passports may be held for Explorers / Young Leaders, please include a copy of the event passport.


Location: 15th Lincoln Scouts Water HQ at Apex Lake, North Hykeham. There is camping on site.


Cost: £45 per participant for Sailing, SUP and Canoe/Kayaking. £60 for Powerboating .


Other


Bring your own tent. Water sports kit needed (wet-suits or old clothes + old trainers. Buoyancy aids provided). The only additional costs will be for any specific assessment/certificate costs (e.g. RYA / British Canoeing).


Food: We will provide food from Saturday am – Sunday lunch. You will need to feed yourselves on Friday night (we will have hot drink making facilities) – you could bring a packed tea, have tea before you arrive, or get something on your way! You may also want to bring supper snacks!

New County Lead Volunteer (CC) needed

As many of you will be aware, Amy Gilbert is stepping down from the role of County lead Volunteer, later this year. I would like to thank Amy for all her hard work and enthusiasm over the last three and a half years to ensure that the county is continuing to develop and giving opportunities to all young people to be part of the amazing Scouting that Lincolnshire has to offer. Amy and her team's efforts have ensure the continued success of the county. It is now time for a new chapter and the search for a new County Lead Volunteer is underway. We have a search panel put together and they will be asking people to help find the best person. You can help in this process by thinking about who might be able to undertake the role and nominate them,(you can nominate more than one person) or if you are interested by applying for the role. Wave Water Activities Days

Water Activity (WAVE) Days 2021 We held two Water Activities Days at 15th Lincoln (Hykeham) Scouts this September with lots of leaders and young people attending on each day. Activities included Stand Up Paddle boarding, Kayaking, canoeing, sailing and powerboating. The aim of the day was develop skills and work towards permits.
